Ometepe is
an island located in Lake Nicaragua along the coast of San Jorge, in
the department of Rivas. It’s 274 square kilometers and home to 40,000 habitants.
To get to
the island, you can travel 4 hours by boat from Granada to Altagracia.
A more common way is to travel 1 hour by boat from San Jorge to Moyogalpa.
There are
small wooden boats (lanchas) that only take people, while the ferries are able to take
cars and trucks as well.
After you have arrived in Moyogalpa, take the public bus to Santa Cruz. You can also take taxis that will take you directly to our hostel.
